About the Artist

Kate Ravenwood is a Portland local artist who enjoys mixing art techniques to create portraits of larger bodies and magic in everyday life. Kate draws inspiration from her Grandmother, who was an artist before her, the natural world, her pagan upbringing and other local artists in our community.

Kate identifies as someone who was raised by mountains as she grew into an adult at the base of Mt. Tamalpais of the coast Miwok lands, the Catalinas of the Tohono O’odham and Hohokam lands, Ko’olaus of the Kanaka ‘Oiwi and now Mt. Hood or Wy’east of the Confederated Tribes of Grande Ronde and Siletz Indians. Kate's ancestors were Portuguese migrant workers to the Kingdom and Sovereign Nation of Hawai’i and Italian immigrants to Northern California.

Kate identifies as a larger bodied, neurodivergent, pansexual eclectic witch and spends her time chasing her toddler, listening to audiobooks, learning 'olelo Hawai'i, painting, gardening, knitting and embroidery, learning about herbalism and trying to remember what she was just doing or looking for.
